PUTATAN: A total of 100 orphans received contributions at a breaking-of-fast ceremony hosted by the President of the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis), Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, at his residence, here, recently.
The event, organised by Muis in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, aimed to support the welfare of the less fortunate, particularly orphans, in the district.

Yahya personally presented the contributions to all the orphans to help ease their needs throughout Ramadan and ahead of Aidilfitri.
He said the breaking-of-fast programme with orphans is an annual Muis event held as part of the institution’s social responsibility.
He added that organising such events provides the community with an opportunity to share sustenance and joy with those in need, particularly during this blessed month.
“Ramadan teaches us to be more caring and to extend assistance to those in need so that no one feels marginalised,” he said.
“Muis will continue to strengthen the implementation of welfare and community programmes to ensure the well-being of Muslims in Sabah is always safeguarded,” Yahya added.
“At the same time, this event serves as a platform to strengthen relationship between the Muis leadership and the local community, as well as to foster a spirit of togetherness and Islamic brotherhood throughout Ramadan,” he said.
Also present were Putatan Member of Parliament Datuk Shahelmy Yahya and Muis Executive Officer Datuk Ramlan Ag Ali.
