Kota Kinabalu: The State Government welcomed the Federal Government’s strategic measures to assist the people, including the early disbursement of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) ahead of Aidilfitri to help with festive preparations.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the move reflects the government’s concern for public welfare, particularly those in need.
He said the RM400 special assistance under the FlySiswa programme for public higher education institution students travelling between the Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak for the Hari Raya holidays would also benefit university students.
Hajiji said the State Government would provide an additional RM600 subsidy for return flight tickets for Sabahan students studying in the Peninsula and Sarawak, while those studying within Sabah would receive RM300 each for travel expenses to return home for Aidilfitri.
Speaking at the 2026 Madani Iftar ceremony with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here on Sunday, he said the incentives reflect the commitment of both Federal and State Governments to assist the people while pledging continued support for the Prime Minister’s leadership in strengthening national development and the economy.
Before attending the event, the Prime Minister, accompanied by the Chief Minister, also visited a Ramadan bazaar and met with the public at the University Apartment (UA) in Sepanggar.
