Matta Sabah votes in a new team

Kota Kinabalu: Alex Chong Vui Loong of Al Hakim Travel and Tours was elected unopposed as new Matta Sabah Chairman for the 2026–2029 term.

The deputy chairman is Noordin Bin Sabtu of Nurnielamsari Travel.

Honorary treasurer is Salviana Binti Basil of Kims Borneo Travel and Tour while committee members are Raflan Alimuddin of Nhafirah Tours and Travel Rent A Car and Nor Zahid Bin Rahim of Zahra Adventure.

Alex said the chapter would prioritise strengthening unity among members while expanding opportunities for collaboration within the tourism industry.

Meanwhile, Noordin said the new leadership team is committed to supporting the continued growth of Sabah’s tourism industry.

“The tourism industry in Sabah continues to show strong potential.

“Moving forward, Matta Sabah will continue to work closely with industry players, government agencies and local authorities to create more opportunities for members and further strengthen Sabah’s position as a key tourism destination in the region,” he said.

The AGM was attended by 40 representatives from travel agencies and tourism industry stakeholders across Sabah.

Outgoing chairman for the 2023–2026 term Mohd Azlan Saleh highlighted the importance of continued collaboration among tourism industry players.

He also reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with government agencies and stakeholders to further enhance Sabah’s tourism industry.
