SANDAKAN: Police arrested three men, including a 14-year-old, in connection with the alleged assault of a Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) enforcement officer while conducting patrols at the Batu 8 Market last Friday.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP George Abd Rakman said the suspects, all Filipino nationals, were detained on Saturday at separate locations in Batu 8, Kampung Bariawa and the Kampung Melayu squatter area.

The arrests followed a police report lodged by the MPS officer involved.
“Urine screening tests conducted on all suspects found them to be negative for drugs. However, all three admitted to their involvement in the incident,” he said, in a statement, Monday.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for voluntarily obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duties, Section 332 for voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from duty and Section 147 for rioting.
