KOTA BELUD: A man was injured after the cement lorry he was driving skidded and crashed into a road divider along Jalan Tuaran–Kota Belud near Bukit Kelawat here on Friday.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Elge Bakuk said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.48pm.
Nine firefighters were dispatched to the scene, about 22 kilometres away, using a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle.
“Upon arrival, the team found the lorry overturned and were informed that the driver, a male, had sustained injuries,” he said when contacted.
He said the victim had already been transported by medical personnel to Kota Belud Hospital before firefighters arrived.
Elge said the fire department proceeded to cut the vehicle’s battery cable and cleared cement dust that had spilled onto the road.
“The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the operation ended at 4.20pm,” he added.
Earlier, a drone video circulating since Saturday showed a red car losing control and crashing into a tow truck at the same location.
The incident was recorded coincidentally while a group of workers were cleaning cement dust that had spilled onto the road following the lorry accident.
So far, there has been no confirmed report on injuries or the status of the occupants in the car.
