Madius said the matter was stated in a written reply by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) in response to his non-oral question during the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament in 2026.
Tuaran: Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said five projects under the Rural Roads Programme (JALB) had been approved in the Tuaran parliamentary constituency, involving a total allocation of RM197.8 million.

He said the matter was stated in a written reply by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) in response to his non-oral question during the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament in 2026.

“According to the ministry’s reply, the approved projects include the construction of the Berungis-Mengkobong-Marabahai Road, the construction of the Sungai Tuaran Bridge from Pekan Kiulu to Kampung Bayag, the upgrading of the Saradan Penimbawan Road Phase II, the Tudan-Poring-Tebobon Road, and the Mantob Gonipis Tebobon Road Phase 2.

“These projects are crucial to strengthening residents’ access to economic centres, education and healthcare services. They will also help stimulate agricultural activities and rural tourism,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

However, the Tamparuli State Assemblyman (ADUN) urged KKDW to also give urgent attention to the need to upgrade the Pekan Nabalu- Giok-Nadau-Sinulihan-Pahu Road.

He stressed that upgrading the road is vital to facilitate the long-delayed construction of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Nabalu.

“We are grateful for the approval of the five roads, but I appeal for the Pekan Nabalu-Giok-Nadau-Sinulihan-Pahu Road to also be listed and approved for upgrading.

“I have requested that this road be prioritised from the outset as it is a key route, particularly to ensure the smooth implementation of the long-delayed SMK Nabalu project. Without proper road access, the implementation of the school project will continue to face logistical challenges,” he said.
