Tuaran: Sabah is committed to ensuring all sports facilities in the State are well maintained, comfortable and able to meet users’ needs.
Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan
(pic) said such facilities not only serve as venues for recreation and athlete training but also reflect the image of the State and attract visitors.
He said on-site visits to sports complexes allow the Ministry to assess actual conditions and identify areas requiring improvement.
“Our responsibility is to ensure these facilities remain in good condition as they are used by the public, athletes and visitors, including tourists,” he said after visiting the Tuaran Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Also present was Tuaran MP, who is also Tamparuli Assemblyman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.
Earlier, Nizam visited several sports complexes in Kota Marudu and Kota Belud as part of an inspection tour covering 17 facilities across Sabah.

At the Tandek Sports Complex in Kota Marudu, he was informed that the project has reached 99 per cent physical completion and is expected to be fully completed by the end of May.
In Kota Belud, focus was given to identifying improvements needed for indoor halls and badminton courts, while a covered “two-in-one” court project is nearing completion and scheduled for June.
In Tuaran, construction of the sports complex grandstand is progressing well at 30 per cent and is expected to be completed according to schedule in September.
Nizam said the Ministry may seek additional funding from the State Government to upgrade facilities where necessary.
He said close cooperation with local leaders is essential to ensure projects are implemented effectively.
