SANDAKAN: Borneo Flyers stamped authority on day one of Borneo 7s 2026 at Eagles Rugby Club Stadium, winning all three women’s matches to top the standings, including a 28-0 shutout of Uzbekistan.
Winger Louisa Tubailagi impressed with standout attacking displays as the hosts outclassed DKI Jakarta and Eagles RFC Select earlier in the day.
In the men’s division, Australia’s Nationwide Nadi 7s delivered the biggest win, thrashing BR7s Development Squad 48-0, while Kazakhstan led Pool A with two wins.
BR7s Development Squad responded with a 17-7 upset over Uzbekistan, showing encouraging progress, while Borneo Eagles endured a mixed start with a draw and a loss.
The tournament continues Sunday with knockout action and finals scheduled for the afternoon.
