SOOK: The family of the late Yunus Kimin, a former Sook district chief, was shocked to discover that a traditional burial jar, or tajau payungon, had been removed from a grave at Batu 28, with human skeletal remains found scattered nearby.
Family representative Aluddin Yunus said they noticed the loss on February 2 while cleaning the grave.

The missing jar had contained three sets of remains, including those of their grandfather, the late Kimin.
The family is appealing for whoever took the jar to return it quietly, stressing they do not intend to take action or pursue the individual’s identity.
Although Murut custom allows for a sogit penalty through the Native Court, the family has not lodged a police report and hopes the jar will simply be restored to its original place.
