BEAUFORT: A total of 3,600kg of food aid was delivered to flood victims in Kg Menanjung and Kg Kebulu by the Fire and Rescue Department, alongside the Malaysian Armed Forces, police, and district disaster agency personnel, with the support of Beaufort Member of Parliament Datuk Siti Aminah Aching.

Beaufort Fire and Rescue Chief Ishak Jabas stated that all food baskets were distributed safely to the affected residents in both villages, which are located about 18km from the Beaufort Parliamentary Service Centre, from which the aid originated.

Siti Aminah said the food baskets, sourced from her parliamentary constituency centre, were meant to ease the burden of flood victims who had been cut off from essential supplies.

“The aid includes rice, sugar, coffee, instant noodles and other items, aimed at providing some relief to those whose supplies have been disrupted by the flood disaster,” she said.

She noted that many victims, including rubber tappers, oil palm harvesters, farmers, and fishermen, were unable to resume their livelihoods after their homes were inundated.

Siti Aminah also acknowledged that the aid distribution coincided with the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, and she emphasized that the contribution reflected her deep concern for those affected during this period.

She took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the security forces and District Disaster Agency personnel for their sacrifices in assisting flood victims, including during the food aid delivery.

“The homes of some of these security personnel were also affected by the floods, yet they are willing to sacrifice to help the people. Thus, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them,” she said.
