KOTA KINABALU: Two men charged with robbing a man of RM8,000 will stand trial after their guilty pleas were rejected when they disputed the facts of the case in the Sessions Court here.
Judge Hurman Hussain rejected the pleas of Zulkifli Said, 47, and Ahmad Khuzairi Zulkifli, 25, after both men challenged parts of the prosecution’s version of events.
They are accused of robbing Teo Haw Chung, 32, of RM8,000 at about 5am on Feb 11 this year at Kedai Supply Food of Pack in Jalan Siren, Tanjung Aru, near here.
The charge under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
The court fixed April 27 for pre-trial case management, ordered both men to be further remanded pending that date and advised them to engage counsel, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Fazriel Fardiansyah Abdul Kadir appeared for the prosecution.
