SANDAKAN: Musketeers Football Academy plans to expand its Community Football Clinic as a continuing initiative to identify and nurture young talents who have been left out due to logistical constraints and lack of exposure.
Its president, Hardy Pudar, said the clinic is not only aimed at providing basic football training but also serves as a platform to instil discipline, leadership and good character among participants, in line with the Academy’s philosophy of “More Than Just Football”.
He said the outreach approach in community areas enables more children and teenagers to access quality training without facing distance or cost barriers.
“This initiative is to ensure that no young talent is sidelined merely because of logistical factors. We want to open up more inclusive space and opportunities for all,” he said.
Hardy added that the clinic will be conducted regularly with the cooperation of local communities and strategic partners, while strengthening ties between sports institutions and the public in developing a well-balanced younger generation, both physically and in character.
Meanwhile, the Academy’s social commitment was also reflected through the organisation of the Jalinan Kasih Programme at Kampung Tanjung Aru, which involved the distribution of 100 food baskets to local residents.
The programme, which brought together about 150 participants comprising aid recipients, academy trainees, parents and coaching staff, was officiated by Hardy.
It was organised with the cooperation of Masjid Nurul Iman and supported by ISMA Sandakan, as well as sponsor MYDIN Sandakan.
The Jalinan Kasih Programme not only serves as a welfare platform but also strengthens the relationship between sports institutions and the community in efforts to build a generation that is balanced in physical development, character and humanitarian values.
