Kota Kinabalu: The Tuaran-based Tiger Academy futsal team secured a commendable third place in the 2025 International Futsal Cup held in Brunei over the weekend.
The two-day tournament played in a round robin format saw the team accumulate six points, finishing behind Indonesia’s Akar, who claimed the championship with 12 points, and Ketiga, also from Indonesia, who took the runners-up position with nine points.
Head coach Azman Soaibah expressed pride in his team’s accomplishment, highlighting the exposure gained through participation in the tournament.
“Being the only team from Sabah invited to this prestigious event is a great honour. It provided a valuable opportunity for our players to measure their skills against their regional opponents,” he said.
A total of five teams were invited to the competition and the other two teams were ABC from Sarawak and another local team AR Rawda Brunei.
