Kota Kinabalu: Sandakan-based Musketeers Football Academy (MFA) made a commendable debut at the recent PFAM Grassroot Cup 2025 tournament organised by the Professional Football Association of Malaysia (PFAM) which took place at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), Bangi, Selangor on December 6.
The team represented by 10 players finished fifth overall among the 12 teams competing in the Under-12 category and one of their players Muhammad Ramadhan Shah was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the tournament.
Head coach Arif Tumin, who was assisted by Talib Karam and Mohd Noor Among, said the maiden trip was a significant achievement for the academy.
“As the first grassroots football academy from Sandakan to participate in the PFAM Grassroot Cup 2025 tournament, our players showed their potential and we are very pleased with their performances throughout the tournament.
“We are also extremely proud of Muhammad Ramadhan Shah, who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his excellent and consistent performance for the team.
“I am very confident that Musketeers FA will continue to progress further by participating in more national level tournaments in the future to live up to our concept of ‘More Than Football’, in the holistic development of our players by integrating sportsmanship, knowledge, leadership, and character alongside physical and technical skills,” he added.
Meanwhile, during the trip, the players were given a special session with Sabah FC players and had also visited Merdeka Stadium, Malaysian Football Mini Museum among others to expose them to the history, heritage and ecosystem of the country’s football.
