Beaufort motorists warned against causing traffic obstruction
Vehicles double-parked near JNT.
BEAUFORT: Police here have issued a warning to motorists not to park their vehicles in a way that blocks entry and exit routes, stating that those causing traffic obstruction can be fined under Section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987 or Traffic Obstruction Rule LN166/59, Rule 16(1), carrying a penalty of up to RM300.

District Police Chief Supt Wong Leong Meng said complaints had been received from road users about vehicles obstructing traffic and causing congestion.

The problem is particularly acute in front of Mini 99 Market and Mr DIY behind JNT, where workers’ vehicles are double-parked, blocking a busy thoroughfare.

“Even if someone is picking up parcels, it is not acceptable to park in a way that obstructs others’ passage,” he said.
