Man charged with causing grievous hurt
The offence, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and may also include a fine or whipping upon conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court set May 14–15 for the trial of a case involving a 34-year-old man charged with causing grievous hurt to another man.

Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan fixed the dates for Dick Deyvon Dualis, who maintained his plea when his case was brought up for case management.

The prosecution had also served relevant documents to Dick on Monday.

Dick is accused of voluntarily causing serious injury to one Raymond Doremeyus, 25, by using a machete at 11.30pm on May 30, 2025, in front of a house in Kg Baru Kelatuan, Papar.

Pending the trial, the court ordered Dick, who is not represented, to be further remanded.

In the same court, a 58-year-old man charged with repeatedly taking syabu will go on trial on July 16–17 this year.

The trial dates were fixed for Awang Azmi Mohd Talib when his case was brought up for mention for the service of relevant documents.

Awang is accused of taking the drug at 9.36am on April 4, 2025, after his urine sample was taken at the Papar police station.

The charge states that he has two previous conviction records for taking the drug.

He was charged under Section 39C(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which provides for a jail term of between five and seven years, as well as whipping of up to three strokes, upon conviction.

Under the Act, those convicted must be placed under police supervision after completing their jail sentence.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronnie Anthony appeared for the prosecution, while Awang was not represented.
