KPDN Beaufort holds Price Catcher advocacy session

BEAUFORT: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Beaufort Branch organised the Bazar Ramadan Rahmah (BRR) Programme, Price Catcher/REDi advocacy and a Consumer Chat session in conjunction with Malaysia Consumer Day 2026 at Membakut Ramadan Bazaar.

KPDN Enforcement Chief Julie Julhani said the programme, held from 2pm to 5.30pm, involved 165 bazaar traders, with 45 stalls participating in the Bazar Ramadan Rahmah initiative offering menu items at reasonable prices to consumers.

“Among the activities carried out was an information-sharing session on the Price Catcher application by KPDN price monitoring officers to raise awareness among consumers to make wiser price comparisons,” she said in a statement.

She added that a joint operation was also conducted involving the Beaufort District Council (MDB) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) to ensure traders complied with regulations as well as maintained food hygiene and safety throughout the Ramadan bazaar operations.

The programme also featured a walkabout session and the presentation of Bazar Ramadan Rahmah trader kits to participating traders together with representatives from the agencies involved.

Julie said Touch ’n Go eWallet pins worth RM20 were also distributed to visitors and traders to encourage the use of cashless payments through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet platform.

The programme also included a Consumer Chat session in conjunction with Malaysia Consumer Day 2026 aimed at increasing public awareness of their rights and responsibilities as consumers.

She said the programme was expected to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, traders and consumers while fostering a smarter consumer culture among the community.
