Tenom: Melalap Assemblyman Datuk Jamawi Jaafar assured that only those truly eligible will be considered for the Rumah Mesra SMJ programme for the constituency.
“There will be no favouritism, no ‘cable’ and no lobbying,” said the State Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry when inspecting houses of applicants.
He said inspections would continue for the remaining applicants before the matter is brought to the Focus Group Committee Meeting chaired by Tenom District Officer Alexander Liew to finalise this year’s list of Rumah Mesra SMJ recipients.
Jamawi, accompanied by Melalap Community Development Leader (PPM) Denesly Justin, visited 10 houses in Kampung Baab, Kampung Naluyan, Kampung Undusan, Kampung Batu Apar, Kampung Pangalat and Kampung Monggol, which were found to be in a severely dilapidated condition.
During the visit, he also inspected the drainage system in Kampung Baab, and noted that upgrading works are required as the existing culvert is unable to cope with heavy water flow, resulting in flooding in the residential area.
He added that his office has contacted the Tenom Public Works Department (JKR) to ensure the upgrading works can be carried out promptly.
