SANDAKAN: The Sabah chapter of the Malaysian Headmasters Association (PGBMS), comprising schools heads across the State, is among the key groups expected to play a leading role in driving the National Education Plan (RPN) 2026-2035.
Sungai Manila Assemblyman Datuk Hazem Mubarak Tun Dr Musa said school leaders, particularly headmasters, have a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of the Madani Government’s recently launched education reform agenda.
His speech was delivered by OKK Awang Zakaria Maria, Sandakan Native Court District Chief, who represented him at the New Year reception held with PGBMS Sabah here.
Hazem said the RPN has been widely welcomed by education stakeholders as a major leap forward in strengthening Malaysia’s education ecosystem, narrowing existing gaps, improving quality, and building a legacy that prepares future generations for the challenges ahead.
Also speaking at the event was Sandakan District Education Office School Management Sector Deputy Officer Jumaat Awang, who praised the efforts of PGBMS Sabah in mobilising school-level implementers of the RPN, especially among educators in their respective schools.
He said the annual PGBMS Sabah executive meetings, which focus on leadership strategies in driving the RPN, are timely and aligned with the government’s newly announced education framework.
Meanwhile, PGBMS Sabah Chairman Datuk Nordin Mohd Taip said the current executive meeting would deliberate on several education motions and preparations to meet the challenges of implementing the RPN.
He also called on all 1,075 headmasters in Sabah to unite and show strong commitment in realising the Sabah New Education Landscape Declaration and the RPN 2026–2035, which focuses on seven strategic pillars, five student wellbeing attributes, and five key priorities in nurturing holistic individuals.
Also present were PGBMS Sabah Deputy President Ismail Awang Damit, Sandakan PGBMS Chairman Nasrah Nasir, and more than 80 executive members from districts across the State.
