19-year-old jailed for having stolen T-shirts
The offence, under Section 411 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, or a fine, or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: The Magistrate’s Court, here, sentenced a 19-year-old to six months’ jail for keeping stolen T-shirts.

Leezvonel Vonie pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to having one white T-shirt and one black T-shirt belonging to Mat Clothing at 4.20pm on Feb 4 this year, in front of Grand Merdeka Mall, Bandar Sierra, Manggatal.

The prosecution informed the court that Leezvonel was detained and handed over to the mall management after the premises had earlier been broken into and three T-shirts were reported missing.

Leezvonel admitted to keeping two of the stolen garments.

Unrepresented, Leezvonel requested a lenient sentence.

The court ordered him to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest.

In another similar case, two men were separately charged with having stolen cables belonging to Telekom Malaysia.

Van driver Md Jenddy Md Jamal, 32, pleaded not guilty to having one meter of stolen cable on Feb 3 this year at 3pm, at the roadside of Jalan Haiwan, Kg Likas.

Self-employed Stenlley Jimi, 32, claimed trial to having two rolls of stolen copper cable on Feb 4 at 3.10am at Kolombong.

The prosecution, in applying for the next mention date, proposed RM5,000 bail for each accused.

Counsel Lim Ming Zoong, representing both accused, requested a lower bail amount.

The court fixed April 2 for pre-trial case management on each charge and released the accused on bail of RM2,500 in two sureties, respectively. Inspector Yusdi Basri prosecuted.
