Kota Kinabalu: Two passengers, including a young girl, were killed and five others were injured after a four-wheel-drive (4WD) skidded and crashed into a roadside drain near Dewan Hakka along Jalan Signal Hill Park on Saturday night.
The accident occurred at 10.52pm when the Toyota Hilux (pic) travelling from a residential area towards Likas is believed to have lost control while negotiating a bend. The vehicle skidded, struck a tree and plunged into a roadside drain.

The Fire and Rescue Department said six victims were involved. One child was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, while another passenger died while receiving treatment at hospital.
The injured victims, aged between 19 and 20s, suffered light to serious injuries and were transported to hospital by Health Ministry ambulances and Fire and Rescue emergency units.
A total of 11 firefighters from the Kota Kinabalu station responded to the call, arriving at 10.59pm from about 7km away. The operation ended at 11.32pm after the area was confirmed safe.
District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said the vehicle was seized for further investigation into the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
