TAWAU: A 29-year-old local man was arrested while allegedly attempting to break into a house at Taman Rainbow, Jalan Kuhara on Saturday evening.
Tawau district police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said patrol officers spotted the suspect acting suspiciously around 5.40pm and moved in with backup.

A follow-up inspection found the rear door knob had been pried open and a pipe cutter believed to be used in the attempt was recovered behind the house.
The suspect was taken to the district police headquarters for investigation under Section 447 of the Penal Code for trespassing.
Police stressed that crime prevention patrols helped stop the break-in before any loss occurred and warned that firm action will be taken against those disturbing public safety.
Residents are urged to report suspicious activity and stay alert through community cooperation.
