KOTA KINABALU: A Volvo XC60 luxury sedan was badly damaged after its engine compartment caught fire at the parking area of The Peak Vista Condominium early today.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the call at 12.20am and arrived at the scene 10 minutes later. The fire had already been partially controlled by building security using 10 dry powder extinguishers.

Firefighters from BBP Kota Kinabalu carried out overhaul work using a hose line from the building’s fire system until the fire was fully extinguished. The operation ended at 1.20am.

No injuries were reported. The incident involved seven firefighters, with assistance from the police.
