Police detained two local men suspected of illegally possessing police-issued items during a beat patrol in front of a bank in the Fajar area on Friday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the first suspect is a 32-year-old unemployed man from Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu, while the second is a 43-year-old lorry driver from Felda Umas.

“A search of their vehicle uncovered a green reflective vest marked ‘PDRM’ and a camouflage cap with a ‘POLIS’ emblem,” he said on Saturday.
Officers also found a waist pouch containing a small plastic packet with crystalline lumps believed to be syabu, weighing approximately 0.10 gram.
Background checks revealed that both men have no prior criminal records.
“The suspects and the seized items have been detained for crime prevention and further investigation, including to determine the motive behind possessing police equipment,” Jasmin said.
The case is being investigated under Section 89 of the Police Act 1967, which prohibits possession of items issued specifically for police use by non-officers.
The drug seizure is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for methamphetamine possession.
