TAWAU: Police arrested eight men suspected of involvement in ketum juice abuse during a raid on an unnumbered house in Kampung Hidayat Batu 4, Jalan Apas, here on Friday.
In the operation, police seized 16,839.29 millilitres of ketum juice, 627.84 millilitres of suspected “mushroom” drug liquid and 9.12 grammes of suspected cannabis, with a total estimated value of RM4,020.

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the main suspect, a 39-year-old local man, admitted ownership of the seized ketum juice and mushroom liquid.
He said the other seven suspects, aged between 19 and 40 and of different nationalities, admitted obtaining ketum supplies from the main suspect in the village, while investigations are ongoing to trace the original supplier.
Jasmin said urine screening tests on all eight suspects were negative, and investigations are being carried out under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952 and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
