KOTA KINABALU: Another motorcyclist was killed in a crash at Jalan Lintas near the Starbucks U-turn on Wednesday night

Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman confirmed that police received a report of the incident at about 7.35pm involving a Toyota Camry and an Aveta motorcycle.

“Preliminary investigations found that the car travelling from Kolombong towards City Mall was making a U-turn when it was struck by a motorcycle coming straight from the opposite direction towards Kolombong.
"The impact occurred at the left side of the car’s front passenger door,” he said in a statement.
He said the motorcyclist suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at 8.40pm while receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, while the car driver was not injured.
He added that one individual has been detained to assist in the investigation and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The U-turn area has frequently been cited by road users as a high-risk location, with several fatal crashes previously reported there, prompting renewed calls for safety upgrades and better traffic control measures.
