Motorcyclist killed in Kota Belud crash

KOTA BELUD: A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was run over by a vehicle along Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, near the Kampung Kiau junction, on Monday afternoon.

The victim, who sustained severe head injuries in the 2pm incident, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Kota Belud Hospital.

Acting Kota Belud District Police Chief ASP Ahmad Fathie Md Salleh said initial investigations found the victim was riding from Ranau towards Kota Kinabalu.

Upon reaching the straight stretch along a steep downhill road, the victim, who was riding a Yamaha LC 135 motorcycle, skidded and fell onto the road before he is believed to have been run over by a vehicle travelling from the opposite direction.
