BEAUFORT: Some 200 Kampung Tuhu Lupak residents are facing the prospect of being completely cut off as flood damage continues to erode the main road serving their community.
Resident, Mazlen Talawi, raised the alarm on Sunday, telling Daily Express that erosion from recent flooding has left the road on the brink of collapse, threatening access for some 50 households in the area.

“The erosion is getting bigger and if left unattended, it will collapse completely. This is what worries residents about using it,” Mazlen said.
The road serves as the primary route for residents traveling to town and transporting oil palm produce.
Since the flooding, vehicles carrying palm fruit have had to exercise caution while navigating the increasingly unstable section.
A complete collapse would force oil palm smallholders to rely on an alternative route that Mazlen described as riddled with large potholes and in poor condition.
The detour would also increase travel distance for all road users.
The deteriorating road infrastructure affects various segments of the community, including civil servants, school students, senior citizens, young children and mothers seeking treatment at health clinics.
“The alternative road we have to use is much farther and is badly damaged with potholes and mud,” Mazlen said.
Residents are appealing to the State Government to take action to repair the eroded section and maintain the alternative route to ensure safe and convenient access for the community.
Mazlen called on Lumadan Assemblyman Datuk Ruslan Muharam who is also Assistant Agriculture. Fisheries and Food Industry Minister, as well as Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah, to visit the site and take appropriate action.
