PENAMPANG: A fire destroyed two non-permanent houses on hilly terrain in Kampung Baru, Luyang, here, with no casualties reported, on Sunday night.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 7.40pm, with the first engine arriving at 7.46pm after travelling eight kilometres to the location, which was inaccessible by vehicle.

The blaze involved two houses, with the fire brought under control at 8.30pm using one 1,500-foot hose line and two water jets.

A total of 33 personnel from Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Lintas stations, assisted by police, the Civil Defence Force and Sabah Electricity, completed overhaul work before operations ended at 2.05am on Monday.
