TAWAU: A nine-year-old was killed when the scooter he was riding pillion with his father and brother collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at the Batu 2 traffic light junction on Jalan Apas on Friday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the incident happened at about 5:36am.

“Preliminary investigations found that the scooter was ridden by a 48 year old local with his two sons, aged nine and 13,” he said.

Jasmin said the family was travelling from Bandar Tawau towards Kunak while the four-wheel-drive, driven by a 63-year-old woman, was heading from her house on Jalan Pantai to Pasar Sin On.
