KOTA BELUD: A 44-year-old man died after allegedly falling from a tree while hunting in the Sapoda forest area here, Saturday.
The incident happened at about 7pm, with the victim found unconscious before being pronounced dead at the scene.

Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief Elge Bakuk said the team received an emergency call at about 7.45pm, upon which five personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene, located some 39 kilometres away.
“Upon arrival, the team found a victim who was unconscious after falling from a tree while hunting with a friend,” Elge said.
He added that the victim’s friend had been forced to leave the forest area to contact the Fire and Rescue for assistance.
Elge said fire personnel and medical staff had to trek three kilometres on foot to reach the victim’s location. However, upon arrival, medical officers from Kota Belud Hospital pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Firefighters, with the assistance of forest rangers, subsequently carried the body out of the jungle using a stretcher.
“After exiting the forest area, the body was handed over to police for further action and the operation ended at 10.56pm,” Elge said.
