He said information on her death was conveyed to the district police headquarters at about 7am.
Her 17-year-old brother, a vocational college student, is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Tawau Hospital, while the 44-year-old car driver was reported unhurt.
Preliminary investigations indicate the sedan was travelling from the town towards Felda Umas when the driver is believed to have briefly fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to lose control, enter the opposite lane and collide with the motorcycle, with the driver to be remanded to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
