LAHAD DATU: The Sabah Immigration Department arrested 14 illegal immigrants during a two-day operation in five areas in Lahad Datu and Keningau.
The operation involving 15 officers from the Lahad Datu and Keningau Immigration Enforcement Division inspected 90 individuals.
After screening, 14 were detained after being found without valid travel documents or valid passes.
in violation of the Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The department, in a statement, said it is committed to carrying out enforcement against illegal immigrants and will not compromise with any party found violating the law, especially involving security issues.
“Stern action will be taken against any party or individual found protecting, harbouring or employing illegal immigrants,” it added.
The department also seeks cooperation from the public to convey information on the presence of illegal immigrants in their respective areas.
