Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has been urged to introduce stricter regulations on tourism touts in Sabah amid rising concerns over illegal and aggressive practices, particularly at Jesselton Point, recently.
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice-President David Ong said incidents involving touts, including public disputes and fights, are no longer isolated occurrences but have become a worrying trend.
He said such behaviour not only jeopardises the safety and comfort of tourists but also tarnishes the image of Kota Kinabalu and Sabah as safe and well-managed tourism destinations.
“The root of the problem lies in the lack of proper regulation, weak enforcement, and the absence of a structured system to manage frontline tourism operators.
