Kota Kinabalu: The Danum Mountain Bike Race 2026 – “Ride the Unseen Borneo” jointly organised by Borneo Nature Tours, Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL) and Eventfinder KK scheduled to be held on February 14, 2026 is set to give participants the rare opportunity to explore Danum Valley.

The Chief Executive Officer of Borneo Nature Tours Sdn Bhd and Innoprise Jungle Lodge Sdn Bhd, Freddie Coleman said in a press conference on Wednesday that the race is not merely another cycling event.

“This is an 88-kilometre gravel endurance challenge that takes riders from the coastal area of Lahad Datu through rolling gravel terrain, forest edges, and finally into one

of the most pristine rainforests on Earth – Danum Valley.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
“This is a landscape that few people ever get to experience. For many riders, it may be the first and only opportunity to journey through a Class I Protected Rainforest – an area normally accessed only by scientists, conservationists, researchers, and a limited number of guests.

“Gravel biking offers a unique blend of adventure, endurance and environmental discovery. It draws riders who seek nature, exploration and purpose – which is exactly what this race represents,” he said.

He added that their objective of organising the event is also to connect the cycling community with conservation.

“Our aspiration is for the Danum Mountain Bike Race to grow into an annual platform that unites adventure sport with environmental stewardship, positioning Sabah as a leader in eco-adventure and sustainable tourism.

“Every rider who participates contributes directly to meaningful, long-term initiatives in Danum Valley.

“Number one is the Orangutan behaviour and ecology research with the Japan Orangutan Research Centre based in Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

“Number two is the reforestation through the purchase and planting of native rainforest saplings sourced from Infapro - the Innoprise-Face Foundation Rainforest Rehabilitation Project in Sabah and thirdly is Bioacoustic monitoring and nocturnal mammal studies within the Dnum Valley Conservation Area.”

Freddie also expressed his gratitude to Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd for the unwavering support of Borneo Rainforest Lodge’s conservation efforts over the years as well as Tourism Malaysia, Sabah Tourism Board, Lahad Datu District Office, Sabah Forestry Department and the Danum Valley Management Committee for their input to enable the event to take shape, and also to all the sponsors including Smart Sabah Corporation Sdn Bhd, Khauf Engineering Sdn Bhd, Tanoa Enterprise, Sticky Rice Travel, Imago Shopping Mall and Mee San Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, race director of Event Finder Auther Kimon said the race, which will take about five hours for top riders to complete, is opened to only 200 slots and so far, they have received about 100 entries.

According to him, registration will be available on Ticket2U and three packages are available to the men, women and veteran participants.

Package A at RM250 is for participation only. Package B with two days one night stay at BRL is priced at RM769, while RM1,238 priced package C will have three days two nights stay at BRL.
