KOTA KINABALU: Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick (

He expressed special appreciation to the 64,471 voters who supported Upko candidates across Kadamaian, Tamparuli and Moyog.
Ewon said the mandate given to the party’s three assemblymen — himself in Kadamaian, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau in Tamparuli and Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin in Moyog — strengthened their resolve to advance the Sabah First agenda.
He said the three representatives would serve not only their constituencies but the wider interests of Sabah, particularly in safeguarding the state’s dignity and pursuing its rights, including the 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
Ewon also congratulated Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on taking his oath of office earlier in the morning, noting that all three Upko assemblymen endorsed him for the post.
He said he personally attended the swearing-in ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu and conveyed Upko’s view that Hajiji could form a government made up entirely of local parties.
Ewon added that Upko would support Hajiji’s leadership in line with principles of good governance, while urging Sabahans to unite behind efforts to strengthen state-federal relations under the spirit of MA63.
