Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has reminded Barisan Nasional (BN) of its long record in denying Sabah’s financial rights, following remarks made by a BN/Umno leader during campaign events in Sulaman and Apas.
GRS deputy secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (

He said Sabahans should not forget BN’s long-standing refusal to honour the 40 per cent revenue entitlement owed to the State under the Federal Constitution.
“Say whatever they want, but the real dinosaur that deprived Sabah of its rights is their own party, BN,” he said.
Armizan said the BN-led Federal Government had withheld billions of ringgit meant for Sabah’s consolidated fund since 1974, and had previously claimed the State’s annual 40 per cent entitlement could lead to bankruptcy.
He said this decades-long denial had contributed to Sabah’s persistent water, electricity and road problems, adding that the shortage of financial resources had made it difficult for the State Government to respond to public needs.
Armizan urged voters to reflect on past records when casting their ballots, saying, “Let us reject political dinosaurs once and for all.”
