PAGINATAN: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Anak Negeri) is serious about its rejection of corruption and its candidate in the Paginatan state assembly wants all voters across the state to reject the dirty practice.
Candidate Rubica Gabayoi issued a strong condemnation of the money politics prevalent in rural areas.
She said voters not support corrupt candidates who have amassed and flaunt wealth and luxury.
She said the candidates were showing off their luxury as a statement of their extraordinary generosity with money that seemed to be made to ‘amaze’ and attract support from voters.
Rubica urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate massive spending by some candidates during the campaign period.
She said if the MACC allowed such a large expenditure by a candidate before or during the election campaign, it would be unfair to those who abide by the law.
Rubica said Anak Negeri operates without any corporate contributors and is free from corruption.
She accused political leaders who rely on money to garner support as potentially corrupt and untrustworthy.
She accused them of now “actively promoting themselves as leaders with grassroots support”, while their entire campaign was “based on money politics.”
Paginatanan needs leaders who are from this area and who have been genuinely involved in community work here, she added.
She said if cash-rich candidates were elected, they would most likely spend most of their time in Kota Kinabalu and using only representatives to meet voters.
Rubica is facing a 10-cornered fight for the constituency of almost 26,881 in this 17th Sabah polls.
