KOTA KINABALU: Local podcaster Stevell Lumbasi (

Facebook page irresponsibly edited and circulated a short clip from his podcast, leading to misunderstanding and online backlash against the show's guest.
He said the conversation in the original recording was meant to bridge perceptions between Sabah’s west and east coasts, with unity and open-mindedness as its core message.

Stevell explained that discussions on social perceptions were part of an effort to address stereotypes rather than statements meant to insult any community.
He said the heavily edited clip distorted the context of the discussion and unfairly painted his guest in a negative light.
Stevell warned that such actions risk fuelling division and urged the public to watch the full video before forming views.
He added that those who reposted the short clip should take responsibility for the impact it caused.
Stevell also reminded social media users not to accept short, decontextualised content at face value without considering its original context.
