Call is not about secession: Shafie
Shafie acknowledged that building Sabah as a model nation-state reflecting Malaysia’s true spirit is challenging, but remains hopeful given the State’s multiracial, multireligious character.
TAWAU: Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the ‘Sabah Tanah Airku’ patriotic spirit is not a secessionist threat but aims to restore State governance through a Sabahan-oriented party.

The former Chief Minister said the initiative seeks to unite people through a single multiracial platform, similar to how Parti Berjaya and PBS successfully governed Sabah for 20 years while maintaining ties with the Federal Government.

“If Berjaya and PBS could govern Sabah for 20 years back then, why not Warisan? They also cooperated with the Federal Government. So why can Warisan not do the same if we govern Sabah under a one-party concept?” he said.

He said contesting solo in the state election does not mean severing cooperation with the Madani Government, noting Warisan had maintained good relations with the Federal Government during its previous administration.
