KOTA MARUDU: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) candidate for the Bandau hopes to use his District Council experience to bring change and reform given the mandate.
Jaiping Minsu, a former Executive Officer in the Council for six years said when he started serving in the district, the number of shoplots was only 100 units. “But throughout my service, the number increased to 1,000 units.”
“In addition, the construction of houses in housing estates by developers in 2011 was only about 200 units but the number of housing units has increased to 2,000 units, including the construction of PPR Korongkom Jaya,” he said.
Jaiping said many infrastructure had been built such as upgrading the Kota Marudu town Open Pavilion, exhibition stalls, business stalls, Tandek town open hall,
Langkon town open hall, installation of street lights at every intersection entering the village, bridges and town lights.
“If I can develop Kota Marudu town, of course I can also develop Bandau constituency with determination and commitment.”
Jaiping, 56, retired as the Executive Officer of the Kinabatangan District Council on June 30 this year. He said he would continue the legacy of former Bandau Bandau Assemblyman, Deputy President of KDM, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, who is contesting in Matunggong.
He faces 12 other candidates including candidates from GRS, BN, PH, Upko, Warisan, Star, PIS, PKS, Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak, Parti Bumi Kenyalang and two Independent candidates.
In 2020 General Election, Wetrom Bahanda won the constituency with 5,863 votes with a majority of 3,363.
