KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) plans to introduce a new enactment to simplify property transactions and ownership processes, especially for developments involving developers and buyers, such as the 1Borneo Hypermall project, if returns to power.
Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said existing regulations are outdated and often slow down dealings between buyers, landowners and relevant agencies, prompting the need for clearer, more efficient provisions.
He said the new enactment would remove technical obstacles that have long delayed sales, transfers and the issuance of titles in major developments across the State.
Hajiji added that GRS’s confidence of securing a simple majority in the 2025 State Election stems from its five-year record, citing improved revenue, expanded welfare assistance and the State’s largest-ever education support programme.
He also said the government’s ongoing work includes addressing water issues and clearing longstanding land matters such as the delivery of 1,974 subsidiary titles for 1Borneo owners, which he described as proof of GRS’s commitment to resolving property-related problems.
He made the remarks after presenting 1,974 1Borneo subsidiary titles to Usia at Menara Kinabalu on Thursday.
