RANAU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam called on coalition supporters to reinforce their unity, particularly in light of the unprecedented 10-cornered contests in the Kundasang state assembly (DUN) seat.
Highlighting similar multi-cornered fights in DUN Paginatan and DUN Karanaan, the incumbent and former Deputy Chief Minister, emphasized the need for solidarity.
“This underscores the critical need for us to strengthen unity within GRS, despite comprising diverse parties. Unity in diversity is our strength. Within GRS, we learn to collaborate, not to act as individual heroes whose actions fragment the coalition,” he stated.
Speaking to supporters at the nomination center in Dewan Masyarakat Ranau, Joachim, who also serves as the Acting President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), stressed the importance of collective effort in advancing development agendas.
“There must be cooperation. That is our primary message: to strengthen GRS in this election,” he added.
GRS candidates Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (DUN Karanaan) and Datuk Abidin Madingkir (DUN Paginatan) were also present.
Joachim reminded supporters of GRS’s accomplishments during its five-year term, including navigating Sabah’s economy through the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in increased state revenue and robust financial reserves.
“As a result, we are now more economically advanced, state revenue has increased, and our financial reserves are very strong,” he noted.
Expressing his hopes for a smooth and safe campaign, Joachim conveyed his confidence that GRS would achieve victory, thereby maintaining leadership in Ranau and throughout Sabah.
