Kota Kinabalu: Sabaras Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Sabah Land Development Board (SLDB), officially launched Mekar by SLDB 8kg Rice aimed at offering quality and affordable rice for Sabahan consumers.
The event, held in conjunction with the CKS 11.11 Lucky Draw Campaign at Millenium CKS Penampang was officiated by Sabaras Managing Director Datuk Syaheddrul R. Jodari, accompanied by Senior Manager Jahufar Aliumer, and attended by representatives from CKS Group.
The new Mekar 8kg rice pack marks the first commercial product under the Mekar by SLDB brand — a milestone that demonstrates SLDB’s commitment to empowering local communities and strengthening Sabah’s food security through homegrown products.
Syaheddrul said the launch represented more than just a new addition to the market.
“It is a step towards providing Sabahans with quality local rice at affordable prices while supporting the livelihoods of local farmers,” he said.
Through its collaboration with CKS Group, one of Sabah’s most established retail chains, SABARAS aims to ensure the Mekar 8kg Rice is easily available statewide — from major supermarkets to neighbourhood shops.
The partnership also reflects a joint effort between a state enterprise and local business players to ensure stable prices, consistent quality, and reliable supply for consumers.
Priced at RM22.80 per bag, the Mekar 8kg Rice is now available at all CKS Supermarket and Grocer outlets across Sabah.
“This is about delivering quality, value, and trust to every Sabahan household,” said Syaheddrul.
