KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kebangsaan Sabah (PKS) will contest 60 state seats in the 17th State Election (PRN17), up from an earlier 55, aiming to win 38–40 seats.
Party President Dato’ Jismit Japong said 40 candidates are from the newly joined Gemilang Sabah Group, while 40 pc are veterans, 30 PC youth, and 30 PC women, including professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, and educators.
PKS unveiled its manifesto with 21 pledges, focusing on improving Sabah’s leadership and people’s well-being.
Key promises include RM1 per litre fuel, free education from kindergarten to university, state-owned hospitals in every parliamentary constituency, 500–1,000 housing units per constituency annually, monthly RM500 aid for those without fixed income, modern transport systems, a state-owned airline, and faster land ownership applications.
Jismit, contesting Klias under the Beaufort parliamentary seat, proposed a new state cabinet of 16 ministers and 32 deputies with four new ministries, and vowed to bar non-Sabah-based parties from state politics.
“It is time for Sabah to be led by local leadership for development and progress,” he said.
