KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor credited Sabah’s civil servants for their strong support in implementing the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 1.0 plan over the past five years.
Speaking at the Sabah Civil Service Convention, Hajiji said state and federal officers had worked effectively despite political instability, the pandemic, and global challenges. He urged continued cooperation under the upcoming SMJ 2.0 plan.
He said the state government remained focused on human capital development through education, skills, and the State Civil Service Remuneration System (SSPA), which begins on Dec 1, 2024.
The RM150 million scheme will raise salaries by 7 pc to 15 pc in phases until 2026. This year, civil servants received record special aid totalling at least RM4,000, including festive bonuses and one month’s salary.
Other initiatives include the i-Cuti vacation incentive for long-serving staff and plans to convert over 5,500 contract posts to permanent ones.
Hajiji hinted the State Budget 2026 may include a festive incentive similar to the federal RM500 payout — or slightly higher — depending on finances, adding that a renewed mandate would allow continuity of current development efforts.
