KOTA KINABALU: A 55-year-old politician will know his fate on Nov 14 in a molest case involving a teenager four years ago.
The Magistrate’s Court has set the date to deliver its decision in the case involving Phillip Among, who was suspended as Putatan Star parliamentary coordinator in June 2021 following allegations of sexual assault.
Phillip was accused of molesting an 18-year-old girl on April 17, 2021, at the Jesselton Capsule Inn in Asia City and had pleaded not guilty under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine, or whipping.
The case, before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus, saw ten prosecution witnesses testify, while only one defence witness was called.
Phillip is also awaiting judgment on four other molest charges involving a 2021 Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan contestant, with the dates for those decisions yet to be fixed.
