LAHAD DATU: Former Segama Assemblyman Datuk Dr Mohamaddin Ketapi said the five-year implementation of Misi Segama has brought positive changes to the Segama state constituency, with 85 per cent of election manifesto pledges successfully fulfilled.
He said the achievement reflects the ongoing commitment of the Segama assembly office to develop the area and strengthen residents’ wellbeing.
He noted that the implementation of Misi Segama during his tenure demonstrates his team’s dedication to initiatives benefiting the people of Segama.
“Every promise made was not merely a manifesto entry, but a responsibility to ensure people receive the development promised,” he said.
Among the key manifesto achievements was the official gazetting of five villages within the first two years, including Kampung Sabah Baru Phases 1 to 4 and Kampung Bukit Belacon Jaya, now officially recognised under the Sabah Land Ordinance.
Mohamaddin also expressed gratitude for addressing water supply issues by securing a new water treatment plant in Bukit Belacon, ensuring clean water distribution to Segama.
“Despite major challenges including the Covid-19 pandemic, political instability, severely limited funding allocations and administrative coordination issues, most promises were fulfilled through determination and cooperation,” he said.
The achievement resulted from strong public support, active community leadership, and the dedication of the Segama Service Centre staff.
Social welfare remained a priority, with initiatives including Bantuan Khas Segama, Membantu Rakyat Programme and Livelihood Initiative Matching Grants supporting education, economics, entrepreneurship and income generation.
Cultural and youth development also received attention through non-governmental organisation (NGO) Cultural Grants and the BeliaBoleh Programme, benefiting 28 NGOs comprising 17 cultural organisations and 11 youth bodies.
“Our grassroots approach remains central, with every community feedback and complaint recorded and discussed thoroughly for quick, effective solutions,” he said.
The remaining 15 per cent of unfulfilled pledges will be prioritised in the next term, focusing on economic improvement, youth education opportunities and better public service delivery through community-based development.
“Segama has tremendous potential and we want every family here to benefit from development fairly and inclusively. The people’s hopes are a trust I will continue to uphold responsibly,” he added.
