Barisan Nasional names 41 candidates
Kota Kinabalu: BN Sabah will contest 41 seats in the 17th Sabah election on Nov. 29, said Chairman Bung Moktar. Candidates for another five to six seats will be revealed later as part of strategy as these are special seats.

In total, it would contest 46 or 47 seats while the remaining by Pakatan Harapan.

He said the candidates are a mix of experienced leaders and new faces especially youths and 85pc are new faces.

“The candidates come from diverse professional backgrounds, with the majority holding Bachelors, Masters, or PhD — including two doctors – Dr Elmiariezan Ardan Sulaiman in Apas and brain (neuro) surgeon Dr Shahnon Rizal Thaijuddin in Sulaman,” he said at the Umno Sabah building.

Coalition partner Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) is contesting two seats with its President Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup cum Pensiangan MP in Sook and Japirin Sahadi in Kundasang, while MCA in Tanjung Kapor.

Five other incumbents besides Bung are Datuk Yakubah Khan in Karambunai, Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak in Usukan, Datuk Harun Durabi in Bengkoka and Datuk Jafry Ariffin in Sukau.
