Filipino illegal charged with using another person’s identity card
Asbi was alleged to have used the identification card, believed to belong to another person, an offence under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, punishable by up to three years’ jail or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, on conviction. 
Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino illegal immigrant was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here for possessing and using another person’s identity card.

Asbi Madani, 35, claimed trial before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to having a MyKad under the name of Marwan Afnan Musa bearing the serial number of 920918-12-5483, at 7.30pm, on Oct 17, this year, at Kampung Air, here.

Asbi was alleged to have used the identification card, believed to belong to another person, an offence under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, punishable by up to three years’ jail or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, on conviction. 

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Yusri Basri applied for another mention date and objected to bail on the grounds that the accused is undocumented.

The court fixed Jan 12, next year for pre-trial case management and ordered Asbi to be further remanded.

In a separate case, a labourer was charged with dishonestly causing the disposal of a car belonging to another person.

Md Shazwan Arman, 26, pleaded not guilty to dishonestly causing two unidentified individuals to dispose of a Proton Iswara belonging to Jurmadil Ureh on September 9, 2024, at Kampung Rampayan Tobur, Manggatal.

The charge stated that the vehicle, which was supposed to be repaired for a fee of RM800, was allegedly cut into parts instead.

The offence under Section 403 of the Penal Code carries imprisonment of six months to five years, whipping, and a possible fine, on conviction.

Inspector Yusri requested a mention date and proposed bail at RM5,000 in two sureties.

Duty counsel Lim Ming Zoong, representing the accused, sought a lower bail amount, saying his client is married with two children and works as a labourer.

Marilyn fixed Jan 12, next year for pre-trial case management and granted bail of RM1,500 in two sureties.
